Middlesex League Indoor Track

Rules & Regulations 2005-2006 updated 12/09/2007 with a further update soon.

1.All meets will be scored as dual meets.

2. All athletes should not be on the infield unless competing or checking into an event.

3. Participation Rule is 1-1-1(one running, one field, and 1 relay). A JV events counts as part of the participation limit. Violation: DQ from the meet but all previously earned places are awarded. Second Violation will constitute unsportsmanlike conduct and be subject to penalties accordingly.

4. An athlete is officially entered into an event when the entry card is presented to the Clerk after which no changes on the entry can be made. Entry cards should indicate school, name k, number of the entrant. HJ/SP entries should be listed in the order of participating. 300m cards should indicate section 1 or 2. If four or less competitors are entered the race will be run in one section.

5. All events are contested under Federation & MIAA rules. Special notes. The starter has total control of the start. His decisions are without appeal by the rules. Jewelry and body adornment is not allowed. Religious medals must be taped to the body. Medical jewelry must be taped to the body and a RED CROSS must be indicated on the tape.

6. High Jumpers compete simultaneously. The event will not be held up for any competitor. Once the bar is raised it will not be lowered. It is the best interest of the athletes who are doubling to request to jump out of sequence in the competition. The officials running the event will do all possible to grant that request. The athlete must notify the official they are leaving the event and must check back in when they are ready to compete again. Opening height for girls is 4’1"with 2" increments to 4' 9" followed by 1 inch increments. Opening height for boys is 5’1"with 2" increments to 5’11".

7. All competitors must wear their numbers. HJ, SP, and Relay not required. All numbers must be worn on the front.

8. Uniform rules will be strictly enforced. Variations from the rule must be presented to the referee in writing prior to the start of the meet.

9. Protests must be presented to the referee within thirty minutes of the conclusion of the event. Middlesex Leagues policies will be followed in all protests.

10. Entry limitation: Dash, Hurdles, 600 = THREE

                              2Mile, HJ, SP, 300 = FOUR

                              Relay = ONE TEAM

                              Mile, 1000 UNLIMITED

                              Dash & Hurdles = THREE @ Lexington

Dash & Hurdles = FOUR at Woburn

JV --  Dash, Hurdles, 400m and 600m = UNLIMITED at Lexington, and Woburn

Entry Limitations when meets are held at RLTC are different than stated above.  I will post as soon as I have current and complete information.  Since RLTC is not available to the league this season it does not seem a pressing matter.

11. No starting blocks for the 300m at any facility.

12. The wearing of spikes is NOT allowed at Woburn or Reading.  Wearing spikes is ALLOWED at Lexington on the running surface ONLY.  ONLY 1/4” or 1/8” PYRAMID or CHRISTMAS TREE spikes are allowed at Lexington.  If you caught using the wrong style or size spikes will face disqualification from the meet. Spikes may only be worn on the Mondo track surface.  Remove spikes when on ALL other surfaces.

The continued use of spikes will be jeopardized if this restriction is not STRICKLY followed.
