JV LEAGUE MEET
Teams may enter team members that do not participate in the VARSITY LEAGUE MEET
Thursday, February 4th @ Lexington 5:30 pm start
Events contested will be similar to the same as have been contested at all previous JV meets.
NOTES: 5:30 pm start to 8:00 pm departure is designed to recognize the fact that these meets are on a school night and these young athletes need to get home at a reasonable hour.
The movement of the JV to a separate date also has the impact of tightening the varsity meet time line to about the same 5:30 pm start to 8:00 pm departure.
JV Events JV listing of events:                                                                                                                 (NO 2 MILE)
1 mile, 1000m, 400m, 600m, 300m, dash, hurdles, shot, high jump and relay.
Time considerations for a 2 1/2 to 2 3/4 hr meet results in a modified event and meet schedule.
Participation Limits  Each team may enter 4 in the 600m, 4 in the 300m, 4 in the 400m.
Shot and High Jump will be limited to 4 per team.  Each team may enter one 4x400m relay team.
Each team may enter unlimited participants in the 1 mile, 1000m, hurdles and dash.
JV ELIGIBILITY: 1. If a team member participates in the varsity meet for a particular block that athlete is precluded from the JV meet of the same block designation regardless of whether the athlete scores in the meet or not.
2. Coaches shall determine which athletes are designated JV and Varsity for a particular block.
3. This also allows a coach to use an athlete in a varsity competition without negating their JV eligibility, the only restriction being one competition per #block designation.
Block #2 varsity entry negates participation in JV block #2

JV Meets will be 2-1-1 participation for the athletes as opposed to the varsity 1-1-1.                               Voted unanimously

JV PLAN PROPOSED AND ENDORSED BY THE ADs

JV Proposals that have resulted from ongoing discussions with indoor track coaches.

1.  Conduct the Dec. 17 JV meet along the lines of the Dec. 14 varsity meet  @ RLT

2.  ADDRESS TIER  2 TEAM ISSUES.  Here are the proposals advanced for consideration.

  1.  Have teams declare a JV team and then build a schedule in block #2 <> #4 for these teams. Run a general series of heats for the undeclared schools.  Block #5 JV Relay Carnival.  Voted unanimously.

  2. Combine two small teams to form one and redo the schedule to reflect this.  Keeping the bye for tier 2 teams or including all five teams without a bye for tier 2

  3. Run the schedule as planned but combine meets that involve small teams into common heats with another small team meet.

  4. Rework the schedule to include tri-meets in tier 2.

  5. Run a tier 2 multi-team meet every planned JV block and score as a multi-team meet.
